Apple Cinnamon Energy Bites
A quick + easy no-bake recipe for the yummiest gluten-free snack!
For years now, we always have a stash of our favorite Almond Butter Chocolate Chip Energy Bites in the freezer (a snack everyone in my house eats multiple times a week!), you all loooove our Chocolate Peanut Butter No Bake Bars, and in the past few years, we’ve been loving adding new seasonal flavor energy bites into the mix as well!
They are packed with nourishing ingredients, tasty, satisfying and perfect anytime snacks.
So let’s make the Apple Cinnamon Energy Bites!
All you need is 12 ingredients:
gluten-free rolled oats
ground flaxseed
hemp seeds
chia seeds
soft dried apples
cashew butter(we love natural cashew butter but substitute any nut or seed butter you love)
maple syrup
vanilla extract
ground cinnamon
ground nutmeg
ground all spice
sea salt
A note about oats: Oats are a naturally gluten-free grain but they are contaminated via cross contact with wheat, barley and rye during the growing and processing process. So definitely look for gluten free oats, preferably certified gluten free oats.
But there’s more.… back when my son was first diagnosed with celiac disease, gluten-free oats were mostly grown via a process known as purity protocol. In recent years, gluten-free oats have also been processed through a manufacturing process known as “sorting”. There is much controversy about sorting versus purity protocol oats. And some oats that were thought to be “safe” were recently tested to show gluten… For more information I’m linking to articles byGluten-Free Watchdog from January 2023 and April 2023.
Also, some people with celiac don’t tolerate oats so please do what ‘s best for you and your health.
How to make Apple Cinnamon Energy Bites
They come together in one bowl and 15 minutes!
It’s just 3 simple steps:
Using a large spoon, mix together gluten-free oats, hemp seeds, flaxseed, chia seeds and spices.
Add in the cashew butter, vanilla extract, maple syrup and dried apples and mix to combine.
Form in to balls and enjoy!
The mix will hold its form well and be formed into balls immediately.
I usually roll into balls about 1 1/4 inch to 1 1/2 inch in diameter but you can make them smaller if you love bite si
And I tend to store them in the refrigerator since they hold their form so well!
They stay in well in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks, if they last that long! Or you are welcome to store them in the freezer.
And they are so delicious! We just love the cozy apple cinnamon flavors!
And while they taste decadent and yummy, they are packed with nutrients and making them a satisfying gluten-free healthy snack or dessert!
Want one?
Hope you love them as much as we do!
