Blueberry Banana Smoothie
A delicious, nourishing and satisfying Blueberry Smoothie to start the day!
If you follow me on Instagram Stories, you know that we almost always start the day with smoothies (especially on school days!).
My son has always opted for a simple Berry n’ Yogurt Smoothie, my husband prefers a simple smoothie of berries and seltzer, and I usually opt for green juices… until this Blueberry Banana Smoothie!
I am obsessed with this smoothie!
It’s packed with nutrients, higher in protein than our other go-to smoothie, super satisfying and delish!
It is adapted from Deliciously Ella and and it has become a new favorite of allll of us!
Above are some of the shots from Instagram Stories…. the slight changes in color and consistency can be attributed to more or less liquid/ frozen berries/ size of banana… but it’s always delicious!
So let’s take a look at the ingredients.
It’s just 6 ingredients.
All you need is:
Frozen Blueberries
Fresh Banana
Almond Milk (or milk of choice)
Hemp seeds (not necessary but adds nutrients and protein)
Almond Butter (or nut or seed butter of choice)
Fresh Ginger (optional but recommended!)
The game changer for me was Deliciously Ella’s recommendation to add fresh ginger!
I happen to love ginger and it cuts the sweetness of smoothies for me.
My son isn’t as big a fan of ginger, so he usually opts for a very tiny piece or none at all…. the smoothie tastes great either way!
If you’ve never purchased ginger, it’s in the produce section of the supermarket and you’re purchasing ginger root.
I always have some in our house because we use it in stir-fries, marinades, salad dressings and so many other recipes.
I cut off the skin before adding it to the smoothie.
Back to the Blueberry Banana Smoothie….
All you do is place all the ingredients in the blender according to your blender’s instructions and blend!
Then you can adjust to tastes and add more liquid if needed.
It’s also customizable…
You could swap out frozen blueberries for another frozen berry or substitute peanut butter for almond butter…
Here I used frozen strawberries and peanut butter.
It’s really about personal tastes and dietary needs…
Our personal preference has been for the blueberry/ almond butter combo… but, either way it is packed with nutrients, protein and really yummy and satisfying!
Hope you love this simple Blueberry Banana Smoothie as much as we do!

Very good! I used peanut butter instead of almond butter and it still tasted amazing! I love how the milk makes the smoothie nice and smooth but thicker.
