If you are new to this website, you should know we are huge fans of GF Jules flour because it was the first gluten-free flour we discovered when my son was first diagnosed with celiac disease (over 13 years ago) that allowed us to make our favorite gluten-based recipes by simply substituting the flour.  We never looked back.

Step by Step How to Make Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Banana Bars

These Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Banana Bars are easy to whip together!

They come together in 4 simple steps:

1. Mix the butter and sugar until well combined and creamy.

2. Add in egg, mashed banana, yogurt and vanilla.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together gluten-free all purpose flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Then add mixture into the wet ingredients.

4. Stir in chocolate chips.

Spread the batter evenly into a prepared pan — I love lining a pan with parchment paper so that is is easy to lift out and then cut the bars after baking.

Top with chocolate chips as desired and bake!

That’s it! A super quick and easy banana recipe that you will want to bake even more than banana bread!

Let cool and slice!

They slice beautifully and are so tasty!

The texture is amazing – soft and moist (no dry gluten-free baked goods here!), and the flavor is fabulous — can you really go wrong with banana and chocolate chips?

They are not overly sweet and are so satisfying making them a perfect snack bar or healthier dessert.

Storing: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days, in the refrigerator for up to a week, or in the freezer (already cut) for up to 3 months.

Hope you love them too!

Equipment

  • 1 8x8 inch metal baking pan

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup butter or dairy-free butter, room temperature
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2/3 cup mashed banana, about 2 large bananas
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt or dairy-free Greek yogurt I used 0% milkfat
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup gluten-free all purpose flour we used GF Jules

  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or dairy-free chocolate chips plus extra for topping as desired

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Prepare an 8-inch-square baking pan: cover parchment paper, allowing it to slightly overhang opposite ends. Set aside.

  • Add in egg, banana, yogurt and vanilla, mix well.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a small bowl.

  • Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Top with extra chips as desired.
  • Bake 35 minutes total: 30 minutes uncovered, 5 minutes covered loosely with foil or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (or with just chocolate on it!).
  • Let cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes. Lift the entire parchment paper out and transfer to a cutting board. Cut into 16 squares. Enjoy!
  • Storing: Once cooled, store in a sealed container at room temperature for 2-3 days, in the refrigerator for up to a week, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
