Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie
Simple, Nourishing and Delicious!
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that we’ve been on a smoothie kick lately!
To be fair, my husband and youngest son always love smoothies but I have been slow to join the smoothie party… until now!
I love how simple they are and that they can be packed with so many goods!
My latest smoothie creation is this gluten-free, dairy-free Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie.
Been making it on repeat for afternoon snacking.
It tastes like a chocolate shake but is packed with goodness!
There are 6 main ingredients:
Cocoa powder (I use Hershey’s 100% cacao unsweetened)
Plus, optional but I love to include a sprinkle of cinnamon and cayenne pepper!
They add a warmth and spiciness that both cut the sweetness (I’m not a fan of sweet drinks which may be why I didn’t love smoothies until I started making my own and could control the ingredients) and are sooooo delicious!
I highly recommend starting with a sprinkle of one or both and playing around with how much you add.
You may find you too like a little kick with your chocolate!
With or without the spices, all you do is blend all the ingredients together!
Follow the directions on your particular blender for how you add them… with our Nutribullet (amazon affiliate link), you place in the heavier items first for instance.

Serves: 1 12oz smoothie
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 small fresh banana
1 cup almond milk
2 tablespoons cocoa powder ( I use Hershey's 100% cacao unsweetened)
1 tablespoon flaxseed meal
1 tablespoon hempseeds
sprinkle Cayenne pepper
Place ingredients in your blender according to your blender's instructions, and blend until smooth!
Taste and add more cinnamon and cayenne pepper to taste.
