Our love for apples is real!
While Fall immediately means pumpkin to lots of people, for us, we think apple season! (Don’t mistake this statement — we still love pumpkin and pumpkin recipes!)
My husband is that person who eats apples daily, all year round. But for me, I eat more apples in apple season than any other time of year!
My love for fresh Fall apples began as a child where I grew up in Northern New Jersey in a town that had 3 local farms. Each week we would go to the farms and pick up a basket of just picked apples. I always loved crisp, tart apples and we would get Macintosh in the early fall, then Macoun and Cortland which were always my favorite!
As an aside, the going to the farms always brings back warm memories of picking pumpkins and warm donuts too! So needless to say, I love Fall and Fall Recipes!
And while we love our Apple Cinnamon Muffins, we thought it would be fun to try one with a crumb topping…. hence these Gluten-Free Apple Crumb Muffins! While both muffins are packed with apples and have a wonderful cinnamon flavor, this recipe is slightly different requiring less eggs and best part, no resting time! So hope you love them too!

Back to the Gluten-free Apple Crumb Muffins
It’s just three easy steps:
1. Make the Cinnamon Crumb topping
2. Make the Fluffy Apple Muffins batter
3. Bake!
Let’s look at each step more closely.
How make the Brown Sugar Cinnamon Crumb topping.
The muffin batter comes together so quickly, it is best to make the crumb topping first and let sit aside covered.
You will need: brown sugar, white granulated sugar, cinnamon, and gluten-free all purpose flour and butter.
It comes together in 2 easy steps:
In a medium bowl, combine the sugars, cinnamon and gluten-free flour.
Add melted butter and combine with a fork, so the the mixture is crumbly. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside while you make the muffins.
How to make the Gluten-free Fluffy Apple Muffin Batter.
The muffin batter couldn’t be simpler or easier!
Cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy (the more room temperature the butter, the faster and better it will cream).
Mix in eggs, yogurt and vanilla.
Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon using a pastry cutter or fork (don’t skip this step, it helps with the texture of gluten-free baking), then add to the wet ingredients and mix in milk.
Then stir in the apples.
Then divide the batter among muffin tins, top with the crumb topping and bake!
Bonus: your kitchen will smell amazing while they bake!
Always always, let them rest in the baking pans for 10-15 minutes as the pan and the muffins will still be quite hot and will continue to set, giving them the best texture!
Then move to a wire rack to cool and enjoy!
How yummy do they look?
And take look inside…
You can see how soft and moist the muffins are! And they are packed with apples so that there are apples in every bite!
Plus, the cinnamon crumb topping is the best finishing touch!
