A simple no fail recipe for Crispy Baked Potato Fries! A naturally gluten-free, easy side dish that makes any meal better! Same recipe works for potato fries and sweet potato fries.
We make potato fries constantly as they are quick, easy and sooooo delicious!
And while I sometimes love a thicker fry, my family loooooves these thin crisp ones.
And they are so easy to make!
Why make your own fries?
While potatoes are naturally gluten-free, when prepared as fries at restaurants you have to be careful if you’re following a gluten-free diet because of celiac disease.
Sometimes potato fries are coated with a coating that contains flour to make them crispier, and hence not gluten-free.
And oftentimes, they are fried in a shared fried with other gluten-containing items rendering them not safe for those with celiac disease.
But when you make them at home, you control the ingredients and they are an EASY gluten-free side dish!
So let’s make them!
All you need is
potatoes (think approximately 1 per person depending on how big they are)
avocado oil, olive oil or oil of choice
and kosher salt
There are some simple tips for making perfect fries:
Make sure the potatoes are well dried after scrubbing off any dirt
No matter what size you cut them, cut them as evenly as possible so that they cook evenly
Make sure they are well coated but not dripping in oil and place on an un-greased baking sheet or baking sheet covered in parchment paper.
Place them on the baking sheet so that they are not touching so that they can get crispy.
Roast them at a high temperature on the top rack, rotating the baking sheet about halfway through.
They cook to crispy perfection in 30 minutes!
They are crispy, flavorful and so delicious!
You could also make them using sweet potatoes for the crispiest Baked Sweet Potato Fries!
Whether you make them with white potatoes or sweet potatoes, they are an easy gluten-free side dish and perfect add to any meal!

Ingredients
4mediumpotatoes (white potatoes or sweet potatoes),well scrubbed and dried skin left onthink about 1 per person depending on size
2-3tablespoonsavocado oil, olive oil or oil of choice
kosher salt
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400 degree F and line baking sheets with parchment paper, set aside
Cut scrubbed potatoes into even strips. The thinner the strips, the crispier they will get. The key to baking them is to cut them as closer to similar size as possible so that they cook evenly.
Place cut strips on prepared baking sheets. Drizzle with oil and use your hands to mix them up, then lay flat on the baking sheet so that they are not touching. The key is to use enough oil to coat the fries but not soak them.
Sprinkle with kosher salt to taste.
Bake on top oven rack for 30 minutes or until crispy, rotating baking sheet once about 1/2 way through.
Remove from oven, let sit for one minute as they will be hot, serve and enjoy!
